Kathy was born in San Francisco, California on March 29th, 1953.  Kathy08As a child, she doodled, sketched and cartooned the plants and animals around her. In 1981, she married and moved to Tucson.  Though no environment could be more different than her native San Francisco, Kathy immediately picked up on the fascinating variety of plants, animals and atmospheres available in the Sonoran Desert.
As a self-taught artist,  she has picked up and/or invented techniques as required by each vision.  Since she began by painting murals in homes, many of those techniques and media have been adapted to the format of hanging paintings.  Most of her paintings are a mixture of acrylics and household enamels on masonite though she has recently completed a series of pen and ink drawings and a group of acrylic on water color paper paintings.   Whether expressed as lush, tropical plantscapes or as harsh, sun-baked desert scenes, Kathy's work exudes an uncanny mixture of respect for the subject, awareness of the feel of the environment, an extraordinary sense of color and a vestige of a cartoonist's whimsy.

Kathy continues to paint murals and accent pieces in homes around Tucson.  Her paintings are shown annually at Unity of Tucson where she has been a consistent top seller since 2000.  Kathy created the backdrop for the main stage at the 2005 Tucson Folk Festival.  She also participates in shows at WomanKraft Gallery and has prints for sale at Bohemia Gallery, both in Tucson.
